Received a copy from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review

Never having read a book by Carter Ashby I wasn't sure what I was in for. I can't say I was disappointed. The writing was great and the storyline flowed easily enough. It is written in many POVs so that did take some getting use to. In order to truly grasp the storyline I felt they were necessary though. I enjoyed getting inside each characters head. It gave me a better understanding of the type of person they were. Let's just do a quick rundown of the characters.

Ivy. She's the princess of the Turner Ranch. She's loyal. She's trustworthy. She just wants romance.
Jake. He's a hard headed rancher. He's stubborn. He's the oldest sibling so most falls on his shoulders. He loves his brothers. But in some ways he's also weak.
Boone. He's the sweet one. The charmer. The wolf in sheep's clothing. He gives no thought to the consequences of his actions.
Molly. Ivy's best friend. She's self centered and self absorbed. She is vindictive, rude and vicious. I didn't care to much for her.
Dallas. He's stuck. He loves his brothers but hates his life. He's scared of his father. He wants out but goes about it in a way that has tragic consequences.
Cody. In a way he's my favorite. He's the one with the biggest secret. But also the biggest burden.
Clara and Gideon. I'm putting these two together because there isn't much to say. These are the patriarchs of the Deathridge family. Gideon is probably my most hated character. He's heavy handed. He's mean. He's vicious. He's hateful. To put it eloquently, he's an ass.
Clara was a weak person. She let's everyone, including her boys, walk all over her. She has no voice. Not for herself anyways.
Jared. Ivy's dad. I love how he supports her. He doesn't question her. He just loves her. I also love how he treats the Deathridge boys as he would his own. He supports them.

On to the story. I loved the story. It has a 'who done it' feel to me. The mystery. The intrigue. The romance. Although that's secondary here.

I stayed glued to the pages because I NEEDED to know what happened next. From one page to the next, you're left on the edge of your seat. Carter Ashby takes you on a ride from one emotion to the next. I swooned. I ranted. I was heartbroken. I was plain old mad. But then, towards the end, I was proud. I was proud of every character in this book and how they grew by the end. How they learned to stand up for themselves and each other. How they learned to accept consequences for their actions. It also shows just how stiffling living in a small town can be. How easily you can be judged for something without knowing the truth. For me I found some good advice reading this book. Always remember to stand up for yourself. No matter who its against. Always love yourself and be proud of who you are. Always remember there is consequences for certain actions. Gossip is never nice. It can be hurtful. But most of all. Secrets can be a burden and can hurt people. They also ALWAYS have a way of coming out. Whether it's by an old busy body blogger or by the person you trusted with them when it all becomes to much.
